Cody Burton Ross, age 60, was born May 30, 1965, in Cameron, Missouri the son of Loren Landis Jr and Juanita Alice (Slates) Ross and passed away January 9, 2026.

Cody devoted more than 30 years of his life to public service as a Correctional Officer with the Missouri Department of Corrections, retiring in 2018.  His work reflected his strong sense of duty, loyalty, and perseverance– qualities that defined him both professionally and personally.

Above all, Cody cherished his family.  He found joy in working on cars, whether out of necessity or simply for the pleasure of fixing something with his own hands.  He loved the outdoors and treasured time spent on the family farm, especially when it meant gathering with loved ones– be it sharing stories, shooting guns, or simply enjoying one another’s company.  These moments, full of laughter and connection, were where Cody was happiest.

He is preceded in death by his mother, Juanita Ross; grandparents, Burton and Selma Slates and Loren Landis, Sr. and Stella Campbell Ross; and aunt and uncle Duane and Karen Slates.

Survivors include his wife Laurie; father, Loren Ross, Jr.; seven children, Tracy Boehmer, Cari (Killian) Knutson, Ryan Ross, Michael (Amber) Ross, William Gatton, Cameron Hamaker, and Sadie Ross; two siblings, Deanna (Alan) Sherman and Doug Ross; twelve grandchildren, Alex, Ben, Chase, Ryland, Kadence, Colette, Jaxson, Henry, Samuel, Gabby, Karson, and Gabriel; niece and nephew, Brent Sherman and Breanna (Chad) Sherman; and numerous other family members and friends.

Funeral Services will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, January 17, 2026 at Turner Family Funeral Home of Maysville, with burial following at Stewartsville Cemetery.  Visitation will be 2 hours prior to funeral time at Turner Family Funeral Home of Maysville.
