Philip Michael McAfee was born on Sept. 20, 1950 in St. Joseph, Mo. to Charles W. and Alice P. (Wales) McAfee.
Phil graduated from South Holt High School. He then attended a year of college before joining the U.S. Navy in 1971. He served in Vietnam, and was honorably discharged in 1973.
After returning home Phil farmed, raising hogs and row crops. He was a member of the VFW and served on the Holt County Extension Council.
Phil passed away on Tuesday, April 2, 2024 at the Oregon Care Center. He was preceded in death by his parents; and sisters, Edith E. McAfee and Sharon Ann Wirth.
Survivors include his cousins, Rodney Wales, Nancy Scroggins, and Terry McAfee; and his nephews, Aaron and Daniel Wirth
Services with military honors: Monday, April 8, 2024, 11:00 am, Chamberlain Funeral Home, Oregon. Family will greet friends beginning at 10:00 am. Inurnment: Maple Grove Cemetery. Memorials: Maple Grove Cemetery Association.
