Robert Michael "Odie" Rich 70, of Amazonia, Missouri, passed away Wednesday, April 3, 2024 in St. Joseph, MO. He was born June 14, 1953 in Fort Leavenworth, KS, son of Mary Belle and Robert Rich. He graduated from Benton High School Class of 1971. In 1996, he met Stacie Anno and they were married July 11, 2017 in Mexico. Odie retired from Nestle Purina in 2016, where he was the union steward. He also worked at Pepsi, Canteen, and was an over the road truck driver. Odie was a true "River Rat," and loved living at his happy place on the Missouri river, where he enjoyed the perfect view, and the most hummingbirds of anyone. He loved shooting snakes out of his yard, and riding on the golf cart with his dog River. He was known for his competitive spirit when it came to bowling, baseball, shooting pool, and playing cards. He enjoyed fishing, cooking, watching Gunsmoke (knowing every episode), traveling, floating on the river, motorcycle trips with his friends, KC Chiefs, but mostly spending time with his family and friends. He will be remembered for his huge heart and always being ready, willing, and able to help anyone.
Odie was preceded in death by his parents, son, Josh Rich, and grandson, Caden Blanton. Survivors include: wife, Stacie Rich of the home, son, Brandon (Teala) Rich, daughters, Heather (Michael) Hayes, and Taylor Meers, daughter-in-law, Jobie Rich of Dearborn, MO, sister, Debbie Henningsen of Ottawa, KS, brothers, Vernon (Barb) Rich, Danny (Cari) Rich, David (Kristin) Rich, and all of St. Joseph, MO, grandchildren, Morgan, Connor, Colton, Jaden, Boston, Jerzey, Shane, Markell, Michael, Memphis, Bryar, and Ezra, great-granddaughter, Luna, and multiple nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM on Saturday, April 13, 2024 at Rupp Funeral Home, with a Celebration of Life following at 3:00 PM at Southern Roots, 239 Illinois Ave, St. Joseph, MO. Memorials are requested to Mosaic Cancer Center.
