The St. Joseph City Council, in a work session Thursday, decided on a mask order.

The order states, "Managers or operators of indoor retail stores with 10,000 or more interior square feet of space (including space that is not accessible to the general public) shall require individuals to wear face coverings or masks when those individuals are inside the retail store." (View the full order below)

The order takes effect Monday, July 13th and will be in place for 60 days.

"I absolutely think it's important to do it," St. Joseph Mayor Bill McMurray said in the Zoom work session. "I'm willing to compromise at the 10,000 (square foot) order... and at least start to do some mandating of wearing the mask."

The city council will continue to meet for a weekly work session to reevaluate.
