Deborah Henning, 69, Shawnee, Kansas, passed away Tuesday, February 24, 2026.

She was born September 20, 1956 in Kansas City, Missouri, to Larry and Ruth (Snow) Alley. Deborah spent most of her childhood in Southern California and graduated from Carlsbad, California, High School.

On May 25, 1974, Deborah married Richard Henning. They shared 32 years together before he preceded her in death on April 4, 2006.

She and Richard moved to Lawrence, Kansas in 1975, where she resided until 2020. She owned and operated a daycare in Lawrence for nearly 20 years.

Deborah loved to travel, with Hawaii being her favorite destination. She was very family-oriented as well, and loved to spend time with them, sharing her witty, sassy sense of humor.

She loved the Lord and served him as a youth group leader at Wheatland Church of Christ in Lawrence, and served her community by holding multiple offices in both the Lawrence Jaycees and Kansas Jaycees, where she was the first woman president.

Deborah loved people and attracted people from all walks of life. She met them where they were in life.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and husband, Richard.

Survivors include her children, Jason Henning (Tracey) and Anne Henning (Brett); grandchildren, Wesley Henning, Savannah Henning, and Ava Lindsey; great-grandchildren, Emerson, Hadley, Callaway, and Milani; sister and brother, Norma and Lon and their spouses; and a multitude of other extended family and friends.
