Lorene Kerns, 87, St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Friday, April 21, 2023.
She was born on July 3, 1935, to Victor and Velma (Williams) Holmes in Albany, Missouri. She graduated from Albany High School and later attended St. Joseph Jr. College. On May 15, 1978, she was united in marriage to Raymond E. Kerns, Sr. He preceded her in death.
Lorene worked as personnel manager for J.C. Penney’s for 27 years and was the owner of L&L Collectibles.
She was a member of the Savannah Avenue Baptist Church, served as president of the Joseph Robidoux Questors #1029, was a past president of the Western Division Chamber of Commerce, a board member of United Way, and the J.C. Penney’s Retirees.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Victor and Velma; husband, Raymond Sr.; and son, Steven Dale King.
Survivors include her children, Robert Scott King of St. Joseph, MO, Michael Charles King (Sharon) of Arizona, Douglas Aaron king (Sondra) of Sedalia, MO, and Ray Kerns (Lucinda) of St. Joseph, MO; sister, Lois Smith of Hollister, MO; seven grandchildren, and eleven great-grandchildren.
