An executive with Mosaic Life Care insists the health system is running smoothly in wake of the recent leadership shake up.
Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Edward Kammerer, says though Mosaic has lost its CEO and Chief Operating Officer, it is running smoothly.
“So, the core team is still here and present and is really unchanged,” Kammerer tells reporters. “We are waiting for Mike Poore. He starts on March 14th. He’s our new interim CEO and the search for a CEO continues and is ongoing already. So, we have multiple candidates who have already expressed interest and so that is an active process that the board is looking at.”
Kammerer declines to say whether he has applied.
Mosaic CEO Dr. Mark Laney took early retirement, according to an announcement made last month by the Mosaic Life Care Board. Chief Operating Officer Michael Pulido also left. The board has given no explanation for their departures.
The board has chosen a veteran health care executive as interim Chief Executive Officer. Mike Poore, currently interim CEO for Faquier Health in Virginia, will begin his duties in St. Joseph March 14th.
Kammerer insists that even with the departure of Laney and Pulido as well as the decision of former Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Davin Turner, to leave to become CEO of Maury Regional Health in Columbia, Tennessee the core team at Mosaic is unchanged. Kammerer says Mosaic is awaiting the arrival of Poore who will guide the system until a permanent CEO is chosen.
“From an internal working aspect, from the operations, we have an excellent operations team,” according to Kammerer. “The team that did all the preparation, the people who were really responsible for running the trains on time and for making sure that we have our COVID procedures and processes in place, they’re all still here and they’re all still functioning so it’s really been seamless.”
A national search is underway for a new CEO.
The Mosaic board hired a search firm. Kammerer says that search firm first conducted a survey of Mosaic employees to determine what they wanted in a new leader.
“Prior to the search beginning, the board took the opportunity to really delve into all levels of the organization and say, what are you looking for in your next CEO?”
The search for a new Mosaic CEO is expected to take about six months.
