Jerry Dean Kurtz was born on October 3, 1935 in New Point, Missouri. He was one of three sons of Russell O. and Ruth N. (Markt) Kurtz. Jerry graduated from Oregon High School in 1953.
From 1958 until 1960 Jerry served in the U.S. Army as a track driver in the anti-aircraft unit. During part of that time he was stationed in Germany.
In July 1958 Jerry married Mona Dreher. They later divorced. On December 8, 1975 he married Elizabeth M. Tetherow. She passed away in May 1998. Then on June 10, 2006 Jerry married Evelyn Doebbeling, and she passed away in March 2020.
Jerry worked as a trailer mechanic for the former Crouch Brothers Truck Line for 14 years. He also operated a dozier and excavator, and drove a grain truck until he retired in 2014. Jerry also farmed.
In addition to his wives, Jerry was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Edward “Ed” and Max Kurtz; stepson, John M. Parker; stepdaughter, Jean Masters; and step grandson, Logan Parker.
Survivors include stepdaughter, Debbie Masters; step grandchildren Nova, Andrea, Mathew, Jacob and Shanon; numerous nieces and nephews, their spouses and children; and loads of friends.
Funeral services: Saturday, May 6, 2023, 2:00 pm, Chamberlain Funeral Home, Oregon. Family will greet friends one hour prior to services. Interment with military rites: Maple Grove Cemetery.
