Lesia Ola Hasiak Shtohryn of Saint Joseph, MO, passed away Saturday, December 23, 2023 in Saint Joseph, MO. She was born February 22, 1955 in Saint Joseph, MO, daughter of the late Eva and Semen Hasiak. She graduated from Benton High School, class of 1973. She worked as a waitress for many years, and retired from the St. Joseph School District. Lesia was a loving mom and grandma. She loved gardening and thrifting for different fun items. Lesia was a wind chime collector and casual bird watcher. Lesia was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Petro Hasiak, sisters, Oksana Lovelady, and Kathy (Kjo) Hasiak. Survivors include children: Paul (Angela) Shtohryn, Lindsey (Bryce) Sato, Brian (Hannah) Green, grandchildren Alaina, Jace, Matthew, Kessa, Blythe, and Alisa, brother, Taras "Ted" (Lynn) Hasiak of Saint Joseph, MO, sisters; Maria "Mary" (Ronald) Morton of Stockbridge, GA, and Irene Hasiak of Saint Joseph, MO.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, December 30, 2023 at 10:00 AM at the St. Joseph Ukrainian Catholic Church, Father Petro Kozar Celebrant. The family will receive friends from 4:00 - 7:00 PM with the Office of the Dead to be recited at 5:00 PM on Friday December 29, 2023 at the Rupp Funeral Home. The Interment will be at the Mount Olivet Cemetery.
