Braggin' Rights is back. Both Mizzou and Illinois have worked step-by-step in coordination to ensure the historic rivalry matchup continues in 2020 in light of challenges brought by the COVID-19 pandemic preventing the game from occurring in St. Louis.
The game is typically played in St. Louis at Scottrade Center, a neutral site nearly equidistant for fans of the rivals on the hardwood, but COVID put that plan on pause for the year.
Still hoping to see the rivalry play out, however, both sides went back to the drawing board to find a way to make it happen, determining that this year's event would be played on one of the two campuses—the coin would decide which one. Missouri won the coin flip and the right to host the game on December 12 at Mizzou Arena.
On Thursday the Mizzou Athletics youtube channel, as well as both school's respective websites, aired Braggin' Rights on Campus: Coin Flip Special a program hosted by national basketball personality Andy Katz.
The program featured interview segments with several key figures from both institutions including both head coaches, Cuonzo Martin and Brad Underwood, Mizzou President & Chancellor Dr. Mun Y. Choi and Illinois Chancellor Robert Jones, and Athletic Directors, Jim Sterk and Josh Whitman as well as an appearance from Mizzou senior standout Jeremiah Tilmon, Jr., and Illinois star junior Ayo Dosunmu
