Minnie Louise Barksdale, 84, St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Thursday, December 7, 2023.
She was born October 19, 1939 in Highland, Kansas to William and Katie (Pennell) Starr. She grew up in Highland, graduating from Highland High School.
Minnie married Reginald Maurice Barksdale on July 26, 1964. He preceded her in death on July 20, 2004.
After Minnie and Reginald moved to St. Joseph, Minnie worked at H.D. Lee and Mead Paper before working as a housekeeper at various nursing homes for many years. She retired from Beverly Manor.
Minnie was a Christian and formerly attended Evangelistic Center of Kansas City, Kansas.
She loved watching WWE, Joel Osteen and Joyce Meyers, “Family Feud” and TV courtroom shows.
Most of all, Minnie was known for her good heart and spirit. Everyone was welcome in her home and all called her “Mom.” She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 40 years, Reginald; son, Reginald Maurice Barksdale, Jr.; her grandson, Brenan Barksdale; her parents; and seven siblings, Robert Starr, Mattie Starr, Shirley Young, Francis Starr; Sandra Broussard, Nolan Starr, and Ezra Starr.
Survivors include her children, Lisa Tillman (Wiley Voss) and their children, Ryan Barksdale and Tashay Tillman, and their grandchildren, Ryan James, Aleena Barksdale, Alexzander, and Jada Barksdale; Tanya Anderson (Loren) and her children, Jordan Barksdale (Benjamin Welch), Gabrielle Anderson (Shakur Khalifah), Lorielle Anderson, and Loren Anderson III, and grandchild, Josiah Khalifah; Eric Barksdale (Kristen) and their children, Jared Barksdale (Hali McBrayer), Tatum Barksdale, Ella Barksdale, and Breyana Davis, and Eric’s grandchildren, Courtland, Xavier, Leanna Violet Barksdale and A’raiya Davis; and James Barksdale (Leigh Hunn) and his children, Blaine Barksdale (Kylie Ralston), Logan Barksdale, Noah Barksdale and Aspyn Barksdale; numerous nieces, including Vickie Hughes, nephews and cousins.
Farewell Services 1:00 P.M. Saturday, December 16, Meierhoffer Funeral Home & Crematory. Inurnment Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will gather with friends one hour prior to the service.
