Joseph Edward Keimig, age 79, of Atchison, KS passed away peacefully on Sat. Jan 18th, 2025, surrounded by his family. He was born Sept. 25, 1945, in Atchison, KS, son of Ruthanna & J.W. Keimig.
Joseph attended Atchison Catholic Elementary School and graduated from Effingham High School in 1963.
Joseph proudly served his country in the Army National Guard 1963-1969. He was in the farming industry from 1963 to 1971. He worked at Bromley Quarry as a Project Foreman from 1971-1984. He worked for United Construction from 1984-1985. He was traffic manager at Northwest Pipe from 1985, until he retired in 2013.
Joseph and Mary Beth (Wietharn) Keimig were united in marriage on April 8, 1967 at St. Joseph’s Church in Everest, KS. They shared nearly 58 years of marriage together.
He was a lifelong member of St. Benedict’s Church and an usher for over 50 years. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus of Atchison. He had the biggest heart and was always wanting to help others who needed assistance. In his leisure time, he enjoyed gardening, working on cars, household projects and spending cherished time with his family.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Beth of the home; daughters, Lisa Potter (Robert Potter), Overland Park, KS; Amy Wycoff, Lawrence, KS; Sara Hausback (Frank Hausback), Shawnee, KS. He has two sisters, Helen Millenbruch and Joanne Eckert; 3 granddaughters – Ashley Wichman, Katelyn Rivers and Ellie Hausback, 4 grandsons – Luke Potter, Dylan Potter, Wyatt Potter and Frankie Hausback; and 2 great-grandchildren – Wynston Wichman and Ensley Wichman.
He was preceded in death by his parents Ruthanna & J.W. Keimig.
Services will be held on Thursday, January 23, 2025, at St. Benedict Church. A rosary will begin at 11:00 am with a brief visitation to follow the rosary. Mass of Christian burial will begin at 11:45 am. Joe will be laid to rest in Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
