Virna Kathleen Libby, affectionately known as Kathy, passed away on Friday, May 9, 2025, at the age of 64. Born on August 6, 1960, in St. Joseph, Missouri, she was the seventh of eleven children born to the late Roy and Catherine Johnson.

Kathy’s life was defined by her love for family, resilience, and unwavering strength. She married Robert Clark in 1977, and together they had three children: Bobby, Matthew, and Angelica Clark (Mason Evans). In 1989, Kathy married David Libby Jr. and became a stepmother to Heather (Michael Fones). Together, Kathy and David, had two children: David Libby III (Brooke) and Jenny Libby. After her divorce from David, Kathy found love again with David Wiedmaier, beginning a long-term relationship in 2011, with whom she shared her later years.

Kathy took immense pride in her family, and her love for them knew no bounds. She was a loving grandmother to: Delaney Clark, Johnathan Clark, Bobby Lee Lynch, Cody Kelso (Jacklyn and their three children), Jason Kelso (Atheana Harsh), Katie Libby, Payden Fones, Tylar Clark (Bre and their child), Maranda, Alana, Kaleb, and Avaian Evans, Addilyn and Warren Libby, and Delilah Libby and Jordyn Conover.

Known for her no-nonsense honesty, sharp sense of humor, and fierce devotion to her loved ones, Kathy’s presence was always felt. She enjoyed trips to the casino, particularly playing the slot machines, and cherished the memories made during poker nights with family and friends. Kathy was often seen with a cup of Folgers coffee in one hand and a Winston 100 in the other, two constants that became part of her signature charm.

Kathy is survived by her siblings: Judy Hardin, Vicki Heavilin, Stephen Johnson, Terry Johnson, and Timothy Johnson. She was preceded in death by her siblings: Connie Brushwood, Roy Lee (Buster) Johnson Jr., Norman (Woody) Johnson, and Edward Johnson.

Her legacy is one of loyalty, love, laughter, and the deep connections she fostered with her family. Kathy will be deeply missed, but her memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, May 14, 2025 at Roberson Funeral Home, 601 N. Alanthus, Stanberry, MO 64489. Visitation will be from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. prior to the service. Burial will follow at High Ridge Cemetery in Stanberry, Missouri. Memorials and contributions are suggested to help with final expenses.
