Missouri Western women's basketball coach Candi Whitaker announced the signing of junior college transfer Connie Clark to the Griffons' recruiting class for the 2021-22 season.
Clark comes to MWSU from Shelton State Community College in Tuscaloosa, Alabama and will have three years of eligibility left.
The 5-8 guard is a Birmingham, Alabama native and graduated from Huffman High School.
"Connie completes our needs for the 2021 class," said Coach Whitaker in a release. "She is the elite rebounder we have been searching for. Her length and athleticism contribute to her success as a defender, and she's a player that does all the intangibles that help teams win."
Clark helped Shelton State to the NJCAA South District Championship as they qualified for the 2021 NJCAA Division I Women's Basketball tournament this past season. The Bucs fell in the national quarterfinals to Trinity Valley and went 21-5 on the season.
Clark made 22 starts and played in 24 games for Shelton State this pst season. She averaged 9.0 points, 5.3 rebounds, 3.3 assists and 2.7 steals per game in 2021. Clark shot 48.0 percent (85-177) from the field, 23.1 percent (3-13) from the three-point line and 52.4 percent (44-84) from the foul line. She led the Bucs in steals (64) and was second in rebounding (5.3) and blocked shots (17).
Clark spent her first year of college at Snead State Community College in Boaz, Alabama. She led the Parsons in scoring (18.8), rebounding (7.6) and steals (3.2) per game during the 2019-2020 season.
Clark is the seventh player to sign with the Griffons for next season as she joins transfers Jaelyn Haggard and Trinity Knapp, as well as incoming freshmen Abby Bala, Alyssa Bonilla, Jae'mya Lyons and Jaidyn Schomp.
