Our beloved father, grandfather, and husband Vernon Ray Hutchcraft passed away peacefully in his home on April 9th, 2025, at the age of 75.
Vern was born in King City, Missouri on March 7th, 1950. During his childhood in Union Star, Missouri, he learned various trades working alongside his father and brothers and “Star” is where his lifelong passion for the outdoors and hunting began. He loved to share his hunting and fishing adventures with family and friends and was always ready to tell stories to anyone that would listen to his tales.
Vern and Susie met in Kansas City and enjoyed time traveling, hunting, fishing and spending time with children and grandchildren while managing their HVAC business.
He is remembered by his wife Susie; former wife, Wanda (Ruoff); brothers, Roger, Mike, Gary and sister, Lori; children, Amy Jo, Todd (Julianne), Tiffany (Steven) Roarty and Justin (Kassi) Ward; 10 grandchildren, Tyler, Valencia, Olivia, Maddex, Lucas, Gavin, Carter, Mazey, Zayleigh, Daxtyn; and 4 great-grandchildren, Skyler, Alissa, Layla, John Allen; many hunting buddies and friends. Vern was preceded in death by his mother, Etta Mae and father, Floyd Hutchcraft.
Vern has been cremated under the direction of Roberson Funeral Home, King City, MO.
The family will hold a Celebration of Life from 12:00-4:00 p.m. Saturday, May 10 at 5749 NW Hwy 31, Union Star, MO 64494. Lunch will be provided.
