James Michael Connors, known affectionately as Jim or Mick, passed away on August 2, 2024, at the age of 79. He was born on March 30, 1945, in New Rochelle, NY, to Norbert and Mary Connors. For over 50 years, he resided in St. Joseph, MO.

Throughout his life, Jim wore many hats and pursued various professions. From being an actor, volunteer fireman, and horse jockey to working as a disc jockey, radio personality, television weatherman, wrestling announcer, shop owner, and car salesman. However, his most notable career achievement was serving the community as a police officer for 33 years. He retired as Commander from the St. Joseph Police Department, leaving a lasting impact on the lives of many.

Jim was a vibrant individual, full of vim, vigor, and vitality. He never knew a stranger and was always in the public eye. His strong presence was felt whether he was acting, reporting the weather, or serving as the Public Information Officer for the St. Joseph Police Department.

Beyond his professional accomplishments, Mick found immense pride and joy in his family. He married Helen Connors on September 24, 1970, and together they raised four children: Kevin Williams (Cindy), Kim Williams-Delaney, Siobhan Connors-Jackson (Scott), Sean Connors, and an adopted child, Tina Wait-Holub (Mark). His twelve grandchildren, Summer, Shalen, Cierra, Conner, Cody, Erin, Dillon, Taylor, Garrett, Baeleigh, Jackson, and Colton brought him immense happiness. Jim was also blessed with thirteen great-grandchildren.

Jim's impact extended beyond his immediate family. He was a founding member of Calvary Chapel St. Joseph and current member of Grace Calvary Chapel, where he served on the Missions board and the Security team for many years. Additionally, he taught CPR classes for the Red Cross, and was a member of many local boards sharing his knowledge and contributing to the welfare of the community.

Now, Jim is reunited with his beloved wife of 49 years, Helen, as well as his favorite dog, Sundae, and cat, Joe. He is survived by his brothers, Norbert and Garrett Connors, four children, adopted child, 12 grandchildren, and 13 great-grandkids.

Mick's warm presence, kindheartedness, and dedication to others will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. May his memory live on in all the lives he touched.
