Keith Alvin Schrader passed peacefully on February 17, 2023. He was born, November 9, 1949, at Sabetha, KS, one of 9 children born to Walter Henry and Elizabeth Phyllis Chaffee Schrader. He lived his early years on the family farm northeast of Hiawatha, attending a one-room country grade school near his rural home. His family moved to Hiawatha in 1961 and he graduated from Hiawatha High School in May 1967.
He briefly attended Highland Community College in Highland, KS. In April 1970 he enlisted in the Navy and was honorably discharged in February 1973. In 1979 he became a delivery agent for the Kansas City Star newspaper. In 1985 he moved to the Wichita area and took on various jobs including pizza delivery, servicing USA Today news racks, and delivered the Wichita Business Journal. He delivered The Wichita Eagle from 1988 to 1999 and a weekly Air Force Base newspaper from 1989 to 2011. Keith retired in 2011.
He enjoyed researching his family genealogy since 1998. He also did research on many Brown County, KS deceased, putting their information on FindAGrave.com. He enjoyed watching the birds and wildlife in his yard.
Mr. Schrader married Gailene Butrick Dec 22, 1973 in Hiawatha, KS. They divorced in August 1974. He married Mrs. Debra Twombly Dec 21, 1974. They divorced in Jan 1983. Keith never remarried.
Survivors include his daughter, Christine (Katie) Schrader of Berryton, KS; three sisters, Mrs. Margaret (Scott) Shannon, of Kansas City, MO, Mrs. Louise E. Sager of Geneva, IL and Mrs. Mary (Dean) Furnish of Indio, Calif.; one brother, Charles (Mary Beth) Schrader of Kansas City, KS; and two adopted daughters, Tara (Kevin) Gurney-Frank & Trina Shughart.
He was preceded in death by a baby sister, Jean, who was stillborn in Jan. 1962, as well as his parents and three older brothers Richard, Stephen and Robert Schrader.
Burial will be in the Mt. Hope Cemetery, Hiawatha, KS.
