John Oliver Finney 81, of Agency, Missouri, passed away February 22, 2025.
He was born July 15, 1943 to Homer and Mary Finney. John graduated from Faucett High School and later served his country in the Air National Guard.
In August of 1966 he married his high school sweetheart, Marilyn Moser. They made their home on a farm just north of Faucett.
John worked for the St. Joseph Stockyards and Santa Fe Railroad before becoming a farmer full time. Farming was a true passion of John’s. He loved every aspect of it no matter if times were good or bad. He still had goals for the farm up until the very end.
John loved International Harvester tractors and proudly owned over 30. He shared that love with his family taking his beloved 806 on tractor cruises and later encouraging his grandson into tractor pulling. John also loved horses. He spent many years as a devoted horse show dad to his daughter and later himself became an avid competitor in team penning.
John was a community icon at the Farris Truck Stop in Faucett. He drank countless cups of coffee discussing all the local happenings at the “loafer’s table.” He loved to tell stories of days gone by and he definitely had some worth telling. He enjoyed being with friends and going on road trips any chance he could.
John was always in attendance for any activity his family was taking part in. He was so proud of his grandson’s and all their accomplishments. He loved watching football and was a big Chiefs fan.
John is preceded in death by his wife Marilyn and sister Mary Ellen.
He is survived by his daughter Andrea Veatch, son in law Chris Veatch, and grandsons Barrett and Blane; sister Dorothy Woodward (Eddy), brother William Finney; several nieces and nephews, other relatives, and many friends.
Funeral Services: 11:00 a.m. Thursday, February 27th at Hixson-Klein Funeral Home, Gower. Visitation: 6:00-8:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 26th at Hixson-Klein Funeral Home, Gower. Burial: Halleck Cemetery.
