Elmer Taylor November 26, 1934-February 16, 2026

Elmer Taylor, 91, of St. Joseph, MO formerly of Climax Springs, MO passed away, February 16, 2026.

He was born on November 26, 1934 to Claude Earl and Anna Virginia (Phillips) Taylor in McClure, Illinois. Elmer grew up in McClure, Illinois where he graduated high school. He then served his country in the U.S. Army.

On January 17, 1960 he was united in marriage to Mary Margaret Hines. After their marriage they lived in several places and made their home in Climax Springs, MO. His wife, Mary, preceded him in death on April 28, 2022.

Elmer worked for a few years on several riverboats and retired as an over-the-road truck driver. His life revolved around his family, boating, camping, motorcycle trips, and shooting guns.

He had a deep belief and love for God and was a member of the Faith Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and board member.

Elmer was also preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, Jack, Tom, Richard and Joe.

He is survived by his children, Timothy (Nancy) Taylor, Corby (Linda) Taylor, John (Gyla) Taylor, and Diana (Greg) Peak; grandchildren, Lauren Taylor, Jason Taylor, Ashley Taylor, Mallory Taylor, Anna (Dustin) Bartholomew, Cody Bradshaw, Carley (Brandon) Legleiter, Madison Peak, Bailey (Brady) Kyle, and Hunter (Morgan) Peak; sixteen great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; brother, Gordon (Sadie) Fletcher; sister-in-law, Kathy Fletcher; many nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral Service: 10:30 a.m. Saturday, February 21st at Hixson-Klein Funeral Home in Smithville with visitation one hour prior to the service.
