Carol Lawler Fairlie 1944 - 2024

Carol Lawler Fairlie, 79, passed away on June 4, 2024, in St. Louis, Missouri, after battling cancer for the past year.

She was born November 1, 1944, to James and Catherine Lawler in Kansas City, Missouri. 

Carol married the love of her life, Thomas Fairlie, on August 15, 1964, and they shared 50 beautiful years together before Tom’s death in 2015.

Carol was an elementary teacher in the St. Joseph School District for 34 years. She cherished the relationships she built as a member of Delta Kappa Gamma, Runcie Club, St. Joseph Retired Teachers, and Frederick Boulevard Baptist Church’s Side-by-Side group. She loved hosting family and friends for celebrations large and small.

Her family is grateful for the treasured memories she was able to create with her granddaughter Emma, especially over the past months while she lived in St. Louis.

She was preceded in death by her husband and parents.

Survivors: daughter, Kristen Smarr (Russell); son, Kevin Fairlie (Lauren); granddaughter Emma Fairlie; brother, James Lawler (Marcia); brother, Robert Lawler.

Carol lived life to the fullest and loved bright, happy colors. The family asks attendees to forgo traditional dark colored clothing at the farewell services in honor of Carol’s joyful spirit.

Farewell Services and Public Livestream 10:00 A.M. Saturday, June 15, Frederick Boulevard Baptist Church. The family will gather with friends from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M., Friday, June 14, Meierhoffer Funeral Home & Crematory.
