Woman hospitalized after SUV strikes embankment

MERCER COUNTY —One person was injured in an accident just afte 5a.m. Saturday in Mercer County.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported a 2017 Ford Explorer driven by a 63-year-old Monticello, Iowa, woman was westbound on U.S. 136 at Route Z eight miles east of Princeton. The driver failed to negotiate a curve. The SUV traveled off the north side of the road and struck an embankment.

Mercer EMS transported the driver to the Wayne County Hospital. She was not wearing a seat belt, according to the MSHP.  The Patrol no longer releases names of accident victims.
