After trading cornerback Trent McDuffie and losing Jaylen Watson to free agency, the Kansas City Chiefs are bolstering their secondary by signing a former first round pick.
The Chiefs have signed cornerback Kaiir Elam, who split last season between the Cowboys and Titans. Elam appeared in 10 games with seven starts for Dallas before being waived in November. He then signed with the Titans and played in four games with the club.
The 24 year old Elam. who was drafted with the 23rd overall pick by the Buffalo Bills in 2022, has appeared in 43 career games with 19 starts, recording eight passes defensed and two interceptions. He was traded from Buffalo in March to Dallas.
Elam might be known by Chiefs fans for his role in the 2024 AFC Championship game. Playing in place of an injured Christian Benford, Elam struggled to defend the Chiefs receivers both in man and zone coverage, committed multiple penalties, and was cited as one of the reasons the Bills lost the game.
