16-year-old driver hospitalized after SUV strikes a tree

NODAWAY COUNTY—A northwest Missouri teen was injured in an accident just before 10p.m. Wednesday in Nodaway County.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported a 2005 Mercury Mariner driven by a 16-year-old girl from Graham was westbound on Route A two miles east of Graham.

The driver attempted to avoid another vehicle in the westbound lane. She steered off the north side of the road and the SUV struck a tree.

Nodaway County EMS transported the teen to Mosaic in St. Joseph. She was properly restrained at the time of the accident, according to the MSHP.
