Michael Ray Oliver, 72, of Savannah, MO unexpectedly passed away on Saturday, November 26, 2022 at a local hospital in St. Joseph. He resided with his loving companion Debra Beahler in Savannah MO for 13 years.
Michael was born April 12, 1950 to Frank and Goldie (Graves) Oliver in St Joseph MO. He attended Savannah High School and later married Janice Jarvis on September 2, 1969 and they had two children Sherry and Shannon. They divorced after 40 years of marriage.
Michael spent a lot of his younger years playing softball, hill climbing, playing pool, and occasionally golfing. Of course, as we all know, his true love of all was hunting, fishing, and gardening. He hunted every day he could. He loved gardening and showing everyone up with his produce. He always grew an overabundance of watermelon to share with his family and friends. Michael retired from Nestle Purina after 31 years. He has since worked along side his brother Gary part time for the Savannah RIII School District mowing and maintaining the school properties. He has been a volunteer firefighter and worked as a reserve officer in the past.
Survivors include his mother Goldie Oliver, children, Sherry (Barry) Robertson and Shannon (Jackie) Oliver both of Savannah, MO; grandchildren, Logan Oliver, Addison Oliver, Trestan Robertson, and Lexie Robertson; brothers, Gary (Karen) Oliver of Savannah, MO, Steve (Diane) Oliver of Clever, MO, and Ronald (Vickie) Oliver of Walnut Grove, MO; sister, Carla (Mike) Potter of Nevada, IA; and his companion Debra Beahler of Savannah. He was preceded in death by his father Frank Oliver, infant grandson Darrik Robertson, and nephew Scott Oliver.
Visitation and family receiving hour will be 10:00am –11:00am Friday, December 2, 2022 at Breit-Hawkins Funeral Home in Savannah, MO. Funeral services will be 11:00am Friday, December 2, 2022 at Breit-Hawkins Funeral Home. Inurnment will be at a later date in Bennett Lane Cemetery.
