Driver passed out, air-lifted to hospital after semi crash

ANDREW COUNTY — Two people were injured in an accident just after 5p.m. Tuesday in Andrew County. 

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported a 2020 Freightliner semi driven by Brian K. Anderson, 47, Omaha, was northbound on Interstate 29 three miles south of Fillmore.

The driver suffered from a medical condition and passed out at the wheel. The semi traveled off the  west side of the road. The vehicle struck the ground with its front bumper, became airborne, struck the ground with its undercarriage, continued north in the median.  The passenger side of the vehicle struck a bridge overhead before coming to rest in the median.

Lifenet transported Anderson to Mosaic Life Care. Andrew County EMS transported the driver's 16-year-old son to Mosaic. Both were properly restrained at the time of the accident, according to the MSHP.
