Kelly M. (Powell) Chard was born in Davenport, Iowa on May 7, 1969. She was one of two children of Gary and Gweneth (Cowan) Powell.
Kelly graduated from Rock Port High School then attended Wade College in Dallas for Marketing/Merchandising. Later she attended Metro Community College in Omaha for Artistic Welding, Iowa Western, and The University of Phoenix for Information Technology. Following Wade College, she returned to Rock Port where she raised three children. She was known as a great cook and a lover of dogs; for a time, she catered out of her house, and she owned and operated Red Star Deli in Rock Port.
Kelly passed on December 13, 2024 at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha after a long battle with illness. She was surrounded by family and her closest, lifelong friends on her passing.
She was preceded in death by her parents. Survivors include her brother and sister-in-law, Jeff and Amanda Powell of Auburn; son and daughter-in-law Joshua and Brooklynn Baughman of Rock Port; son and daughter-in-law Nate and Kelsey Chard of Rock Port; and daughter Lexi Chard of Auburn; two grandchildren, Jameson Chard and Bray Baughman; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
There will be a private inurnment at the Riverton Cemetery in Riverton, Iowa for family and close friends at a future date.
