Missouri Western State University is holding a Career Fair on Tuesday, February 27th, for all majors which might provide some internship possibilities for students.

MWSU Dean of Students Robert Goltra says this fair gives businesses a chance to show what they have to offer those moving into the working world.

“Not only what they do in terms of mentorships for maybe an internship or clear into salaries and wages and jobs, but I think the big thing our students are looking for is a connection,” Goltra tells host Barry Birr on the KFEQ Hotline. “How would they be a fit, either long-term or short-term, with that company or business?”

Goltra says businesses can register for the fair until the 21st. Goltra urges businesses to check it out, saying they will never know who they might come in contact with.

“We haven’t even tapped or even touched into the thousands and thousands of alums who have gone on and had amazing stories and careers and a lot of those, most of those, started right here in St. Joe,” Goltra says. “You don’t know, you might be with the next executive of said company that you had for a summer internship. That’s important. So, we value that. We appreciate that. And we’d love to see you out here in a couple of weeks on the 27th at our fair.”

The Missouri Western Career Fair will be held on the St. Joseph campus in the Fulkerson Center from 10am until 1:30pm Tuesday, February 27th.

Goltra expects between 100-to-200 businesses to attend, offering jobs or even internships to Missouri Western students.

Goltra says there are plenty of opportunities for Missouri Western graduates, but the fields of engineering, nursing, and education seem to be especially hot careers these days.
