The St. Joseph Mustangs rallied from an early 2-0 deficit and scored the go-ahead run in the top of the 10th inning to beat the Carroll, Iowa Merchants 5-4 Tuesday.
St. Joseph (4-1) scored four runs in the top of the eighth to take a 4-2 lead, but Carroll tied it with two runs in the bottom of the ninth.
Lafayette alum Ike Book went 2-for-5 at the plate with a run scored. Savannah alum Noah Bodenhausen went 2-for-4.
Benton product Tanner Schmidt started on the mound, striking out six batters in four innings. St. Joseph Christian alum Camden Lutz tossed four innings of scoreless relief, striking out four.
The Mustangs are back home Wednesday to face the Chillicothe Mudcats. First pitch is set for 7 p.m. Gates at Phil Welch Stadium open at 5:30.
