Final Missouri student eliminated from National Spelling Bee

WASHINGTON — The final Missouri student has been eliminated from the 2025 Scripps National Spelling Bee. Ananya Aggarwal, 12, Columbia Independent Upper School was the only student from Missouri who advanced to the Wednesday quarterfinals.  She did not advance to the semifinals set for Wednesday evening, according to the Bee website.

WASHINGTON —Ananya Aggarwal, 12, Columbia Independent Upper School is the only student from Missouri who advanced to the Wednesday quarterfinals of the Scripps National Spelling Bee. Seven students from Missouri earned a trip to compete at the national competition.

St. Joseph student, 14-year-old Natalie Linthicum North Davies R-III did not advance to the quarterfinals.

Sixty spellers were eliminated in preliminary spelling and vocabulary rounds. That left 183 who took the written spelling and vocabulary test. That test eliminated 84 more. The quarterfinals are Wednesday with 99 spellers left
