Dr. Timothy Reed Fields, 72, St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Tuesday, November 18, 2025.

He was born August 22, 1953 to Dr. Howard Reed and Mary Jane (Holub) Fields in St. Joseph, Missouri.

Timothy married his college sweetheart, Reva Jean Magner, on August 29, 1981,

After graduating from Savannah High School in 1971, he continued his education at Missouri Western State College where he earned his bachelor's degree in Psychology in 1976 with the intention of pursuing a career in Optometry and becoming the family’s third generation Optometrist. In 1979 he earned an Optician Certificate from Ferris State University. Upon receiving his doctorate in Optometry from Southern College of Optometry in 1983, he joined his father, Dr. Howard Fields in private practice where he remained serving Northwest Missouri until his retirement in 2015. His dedication to Optometry went beyond his practice, as demonstrated by his active involvement with the American Optometric Association and the Missouri Optometric Association. Timothy often took his expertise on the road, delivering eye care to those in need at places like WRDCC in St. Joseph and even as far as Costa Rica and First Christian Church missions to Jamaica, ensuring that underprivileged communities received necessary eye care.

His dedication to service spilled over into his involvement with the Sertoma Club of St. Joseph, where he served as president and governor. Timothy was also a proud member of the NWMO Model A Club, preserving and celebrating the heritage of vintage cars, an interest that perfectly aligned with his love for antiques. He was a member of First Christian Church in St. Joseph, served as a Deacon, Elder and on several committees.

Continuing education hours at the Annual American Optometric Association conventions offered opportunities for family vacations across the country. These gatherings were not only professional milestones but also cherished family memories.

Timothy's hobbies included an impressive collection of classic cars, which started with a 1928 Ford Model A he purchased at 16. He enjoyed leatherworking and stained-glass work, training under Carl Tobiassen. He was also a connoisseur of chess, both as a player and collector.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Trent Fields; and brother-in-law, Michial Kepner.
