James Edwin Zishka, 80, of Dallas, TX, passed away September 5, 2023, at the Methodist Mansfield Medical Center, Mansfield, TX. James “Jim” was born on May 13, 1943, in Atchison, KS, the son of George and Leona (Shughart) Zishka.
He grew up on the family farm in Nortonville, KS and graduated from Atchison County Community High School in Effingham, KS, and Emporia State University. Jim served in the United States Army, then began his twenty-six-year career with a telecommunication company until his retirement in 1994.Jim is survived by his wife Patti. He and Patti Curtiss were married on June 21, 1994, in St. Thomas, Virgin Islands.
Jim is also survived by, two sons, two daughters, ten grandchildren, two great grandchildren, two sisters and one brother.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers and one sister.
A private graveside service and burial will be held on Tuesday, September 12, 2023, at the St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Nortonville, Kansas, with Deacon Ronald Zishka officiating. Memorials are suggested to the Alzheimer’s Association and may be sent in care of the Becker-Dyer-Stanton & O’Trimble Funeral Home who has been entrusted with the arrangements.
