Glen Howard Brown was born on July 6, 1932 in Lincoln, Nebraska. He was one of nine children born to George and Fern (Forney) Brown.
Glen graduated from Mound City High School in 1951. After high school he served in the U.S. Air Force from 1951 to 1955.
On August 28, 1955 he married his high school sweetheart, Beth H. Huiatt, at the Shiloh church. They became parents of two children. Glen and Beth lived in San Francisco, California before moving to Mound City in 1997. Beth passed away in 2012. Glen passed away on January 2, 2023 at a Mound City care center.
In addition to his wife, Glen was also preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Richard, Harold, William, and Charles Brown; sister, Pat Bruntmyer; son-in-law, John Beaman; and an infant sister.
Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Kent and Nicole Brown of Mound City; daughter, Myrta Beaman of Utah; sisters, GeorgeAnna Lawrence of Kechi, Kansas and Janice McGee of Amarillo, Texas; and grandchildren, Chauncey and Marlee Brown of Mound City and Shaleah and Jaden Beaman of Utah.
Glen was an electrical and mechanical engineer. As such, he helped design and build the antenna array for the Apollo 14 mission to the moon.
Glen enjoyed woodworking and making furniture. He helped to completely rebuild a pipe organ in the Methodist Church in San Carlos, CA. Glen was very good at repurposing old equipment into new and useful items. He also enjoyed growing and caring for his fruit trees and making apple cider every fall. Glen took great pleasure in shelling walnuts and giving them as Christmas gifts.
A Celebration of Life picnic at the family pond will be held at a later date. A private family inurnment will also be held at a later date.
