Robert Gene Peak, of Atchison, Kansas, died Tuesday, December 12, 2023, at the Atchison Medicalodge, one week after celebrating his 84th birthday.
Robert was born on December 6, 1939, in Atchison, KS, the son of Walter and Sarah (Banker) Peak. He attended grade school in the rural schools and graduated from ACCHS in Effingham. He worked for Lockwood’s in Atchison as a print press operator. He served his country with the United States Marine Corps until his honorable discharge.
He married Patricia Wilson in 1969 and they created a loving family, including their four children, Steven Peak of Kansas City, MO; Kevin Peak (Sara) of Overland Park, KS; Kylee Bethke (Patrick), Shawnee, KS; Tammy Federinko (Jeff) of Atchison, KS; four grandchildren, Alison Peak, Abigail Peak, Asher Peak, Theodore Peak; and two great grandchildren, Jaxon Peak and Davey Reed. Robert is also survived by his siblings, Jim (Paula) Peak, Amarillo, TX; Tom (Ardith) Peak, Bendena, KS; and Sarah Jane Heineken, Wamego, KS.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Patricia, and a brother, David Peak.
Robert enjoyed the outdoors, especially fishing and camping. He travelled many places with his camper, spending over twelve years in Texas. One of his favorite spots was at the Sam Rayburn Reservoir, which is the largest man-made lake in Texas.
Robert served in the United States Marines from November 15, 1960 until his honorable discharge on October 30, 1964.
A service to remember Robert’s life will be Thursday, December 21, 2023 at 2:00 P.M. at Arensberg-Pruett Funeral Home with Rev. Russ Cooper officiating. Visitation with the family will be Thursday from 1:00 until 2:00 at the funeral home. Cremation care has been entrusted to the Arensberg-Pruett Funeral Home.
