KESJ of St. Joseph, better known as Joe Town 107.5, won Station of the Year at the Missouri Broadcasters Association awards ceremony held this past weekend at the Margaritaville Lake Resort in Osage Beach.
Joe Town won in the medium market radio category for its community involvement and charitable campaigns. Program Director Gregg Lynn accepted the award on behalf of the station during the ceremony. Lynn also won second place for his work on KESJ in the category of Social Media Star.
Station of the Year was one of several awards received by Eagle St. Joseph radio stations as well as St. Joseph Post by the MBA. KFEQ won Best Use of Digital Media, medium market radio, for its Chiefs’ Training Camp coverage. KFEQ swept the Feature Reporting category for medium market radio. Sports Director Tommy Rezac won first place for his feature on Special Olympics athlete Charlie Phillips of Savannah. News Director Brent Martin won second place for his feature on efforts to pass Max’s Law.
KFEQ Sports Director Tommy Rezac also won second place in the Play-by-Play category for his call of the Missouri Western State University football game against Pitt State; second place for his sports feature, From Rolla to Red Kingdom; and second place for Podcast on Kansas City Royals minor league pitcher Noah Cameron from St. Joseph Central High School.
