Claireene Timmons Lehr died at her home on January 6,2025in Saint Joseph, MO. She was born in Shelby County, Missouri to Bill and Erma (Tipton) Timmons on November 2, 1928. Claireene played clarinet in high school and also played the piano. After high school, she attended Northeast Missouri State University, now Truman State University in Kirksville, Missouri.
Claireene then worked at the American Angus Association in Saint Joseph and later worked as the administrative assistant for the superintendent at the State Hospital in Saint Joseph. Claireene and Thomas Lehr were married in 1961 at St. Mary Church she then resigned from the hospital to become a stay at home parent. She later returned to work in Community Services at the State Hospital until her retirement.
Claireene is preceded in death by her parents, Thomas Lehr, sister Marjorie Wisdom, sister in law, Donna Lindgren, brother in law, Ray Lindgren, brother in law, Bill McCabe, nephew Ron McCabe and grandchildren Jacqueline and Dare, and son in law, James Bigelow She is survived by sister Erma Jeanne McCabe, brother in law George Wisdom and daughters, Laura Lehr Bigelow, Lisa Johnson (Steve), and Anita Lehr (Danny Hanlan), grandchildren Brent, Ashley, Cody, Matthew ( Andrea ) Noah, Chance, and John. Great grandchildren, Anthony, Zion, Ava, Grace, and Luke, former son in law, John Steidel, and several nieces and nephews.
Claireene was a member of the East Hills Church of Christ, Daughters of the American Revolution, active in PTA, and was active in the Robidoux Row Historical Society. Claireene was an avid walker and loved reading. She led a colorful, well traveled life. Enjoyed spending winters in Phoenix with her daughter Laura and grandson Chance. She was an avid Chiefs and Royals fan. She was a green thumb and took pride in her beautiful flowers. She loved dominos and would play with her family any chance she could get. She read her bible daily, taught her grandchildren to follow Christ and taught them to sing Jesus Loves Me at an early age.
A celebration of life will be held on January 18, 2025 at 1pm at East Hills Church of Christ. Private services will be held at a later date at Maplewood Cemetery, Clarence, MO.
