Elizabeth Ellen Wilson, of Mound City, Missouri, went to meet the Lord on February 4, 2026, at the age of 78. She was born on October 21, 1947, at the family home in Mound City, Missouri, to John R. and Frances D. (Long) Wilson.
Ellen graduated from Mound City High School in 1965. During her lifetime she attended Northwest Missouri State University, floral school, and beauty school. She worked for various employers over the years in the Northwest Missouri area.
Ellen was known for her spunk, caring heart, and artistic talents. She will be remembered for her silk floral arrangements, wreaths, crafts, tatting, and fried chicken livers. Ellen also loved going to flea markets and haggling for a deal.
Throughout her life, she loved her pets dearly. She loved her dogs, and later in life, loved her various cats. She had a passion for taking care of animals.
She took great pride in her family and cherished time spent with those closest to her. Whether through her family, work, or friends in the community, Ellen touched the lives of many and will be dearly missed.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Dr. J. Richard Wilson, PhD and Thomas E. Wilson.
Survivors include her brother, David H. “Derb” and Sherry Wilson of Mound City, Missouri; sisters-in-law Lynn Wilson of Menlo Park, California, and Vivian Wilson (Jim) of Boulder, Colorado; one nephew, Dave (Makayla) Wilson; five nieces, Michelle (Ryan) Brown, Angie (Charlie) Hughes, Amy (Pat) Ryan, Ariane (Courtney) Wilson-Lang, Tristan (Leo) Polovets; four great nephews, Ty Hughes, Max Ryan, Ben Wilson, and Edwin Wilson; ten great nieces, Kimber Brown, Lanie Brown, Macy Hughes, Kyli Hughes, Maddie Ryan, Lily Ryan, Eleanor Wilson, Nyssa Lang, Ailith Lang, and Winona Polovets; and cousin Patty Bown (Bill) of Minneapolis, Minnesota; and many friends.
A service will be held on Saturday, February 7, 2026, at 1:00PM at Chamberlain Funeral Home in Mound City. Jim Brown will officiate. The family will greet friends following the service. A private inurnment will be held at a future date.
Memorial contributions may be made to Mount Hope Cemetery or the New Nodaway Humane Society in Maryville, MO, in Ellen’s honor.
