Janet Ruth (Rehm) Conner passed away unexpectedly but peacefully on Tuesday, December 26, 2023, the day after celebrating Christmas with her beloved family. Janet was born on April 4, 1944 (4/4/44) in Beatrice, Nebraska to Melinda M. (Knoche) and Arnold W. Rehm, the third of six children. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Church and was a lifelong Christian.
In Nebraska, Janet attended a one room school house and walked to school. She moved with her family to a farm in Craig, Missouri on her 12th birthday. She would graduate from high school there in 1962 and get married to Norman Leroy Conner at St. Peter Lutheran Church outside Craig on April 21, 1967. She graduated from Platte Guard Business College and worked for American Family before starting her family. Together her and Leroy raised 3 kids and had 8 grandkids, the oldest grandchild born on her 57th birthday. They have met many people along their moves from Easton to St. Joseph in Missouri to Plainview, Texas to Lincoln, NE, to their retirement home in Plattsburg, MO where we all enjoyed boating and fishing on Lake Concord.
In her life she milked cows, walked, cooked beans, and did countless dishes while growing up on the farm. She enjoyed basketball in high school and was a fast typist. She was very involved over the years with church, school activities like scouts, and in later years bingo and the Senior Center. While raising their children, much family time was spent at gathering for the holidays, camping, playing cards, enjoying concerts, doing all sorts of crafts, collecting angels, and traveling. She was fortunate enough to have visited all 50 states, gone to over 15 countries in Europe, saw Australia/New Zealand, and been on 10 cruises. She got to enjoy God’s sunsets in many places. Some of our favorite memories were made when all the kids and grandkids went with them to Hawaii and when the kids would play Bingo at their house for family holidays.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her younger brother Ronald R. Rehm, and her in-laws, Kathleen E. (Keller) and Norman W. Conner. She is survived by her husband of over 56 years and their children: Shawna M. (Mark) Macrander of St. Joseph; Angie D. Conner of Plattsburg;, and Chris W. Conner of St. Joseph. Their 8 grandchildren are: Brooke L. Conner of KC, MO; Teagan V. Conner of Sedelia, MO; Conner S. Wilcox of Virginia; Devon J. Wilcox of Wisconsin; and Josiah C. Macrander, Delaney M. Macrander, Cassidy A. Macrander, and Kelsey R. Macrander all of St. Joseph, MO. She was so very proud of the young adults each of them are becoming and loved family pictures. Her siblings include: Carol (Billie Paul) Sharp of Mound City, MO; Kenneth (Barb) Rehm of Florida; Lois Deering of Fillmore, MO; Bill (Connie) Rehm of Savannah , MO; and Brother-in-law and sister-in-law Darell (Sylvia) Conner of Plattsburg, MO.
She has many friends and extended family including numerous nieces and nephews left to morn her loss as well.
In Lieu of flowers Memorials to the Senior Center of Plattsburg, MO would be appreciated.
Family will receive visitors at Heaton Bowman Smith and Sidenfaden Chapel on Saturday, December 30, 2023 from 3:00 PM - 5:00 PM.
