MIAA leads NCAA Division II in men's basketball attendance again

 INDIANAPOLIS (August 10, 2020) - For the 12th consecutive year, the MIAA led NCAA Division II Men’s Basketball in total attendance with 251,994 fans attending games during the 2019-2020 season. It is also the eighth straight season the Association surpassed 250,000 fans for a season.

The MIAA also landed seven members in the top 20 of total attendance led by Fort Hays State, which ranked fourth nationally with 30,545. Central Missouri finished eighth and Missouri Southern came in 10th. The Mules had an attendance number of 26,716 and the Lions had a figure of 25,325. 

Missouri Western and Northwest Missouri ranked 14th and 15th respectively. The Griffons recorded a total of 23,116 fans as the Bearcats drew 22,812 fans. Just behind MWSU and NW were Washburn and Emporia State. The Ichabods finished 17th with 22,032 fans and the Hornets were 18th with 21,675 fans. 

The 2020 MIAA Men’s Basketball Championship game between Northwest Missouri and Missouri Southern was the second-highest attended single-game in NCAA Division II. To see the complete attendance number for all three NCAA Divisions and how MIAA members compare, click here.
