Marilyn Kay Koch 73, of St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away on Monday, November 4, 2024 in a St. Joseph hospital. Born on November 17, 1950 in Seneca, Kansas, she was the daughter of the late Eileen and Charles Duryea, Jr. Marilyn married Eldon Koch on January 9, 1971 in Seneca, Kansas, and he survives her.
Marilyn was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother, who enjoyed sewing, embroidery, quilting, cooking, and spending time with her family. She was the beloved cook at St. James School for many years. A devout Catholic, Marilyn was a member of the St. James Catholic Church and the St. James Altar Society.
She is survived by her husband, Eldon Koch; sons, Father Jason Koch of Montrose, MO, and Jamie (Cheryl) Koch of St. Joseph, MO; daughters, Sheri (Marvin) Barnes of St. Joseph, MO, and Vicki Brushwood; brothers, Ron (Sharon) Duryea, Don (Beth) Duryea, Greg (Lesa) Duryea, Merle (Rose Mary) Duryea; sisters, Debra (Gary) Meyer and Kay Lynne (Marvin) Gabb; grandchildren: Christopher, Austin, Bethany, Theodore 'Teddy', Levi, Revecca, Samantha, Andrea (Brett), Martha, James (Alejandra), Tori, Sean, Cheyenne, Gemma, Gretchen, Zetta, and Amelia; great-grandchildren: Charlie, Benjamin and Joshua; and sister-in-law, Joyce Duryea.
Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents, and her brother, Dennis Duryea.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, November 8, 2024 at 11:00 am at the St. James Catholic Church with Father Jonathan Davis and Father Jason Koch as Celebrants. The family will receive friends from 6 - 8:00 pm with the Rosary to be prayed at 7:30 pm on Thursday at the St. James Catholic Church. Interment will follow at the Memorial Park Cemetery.
