(AP) - Tyler Wells pitched six strong innings to earn his first victory of the season and the Baltimore Orioles used a six-run fifth inning to surge past the Kansas City Royals 6-1 Monday.
Kansas City has now dropped to a season-high eight games under .500. The game was a makeup of Saturday’s postponed game to cap a rain-altered series. Friday’s game was washed out and made up as part of a doubleheader the teams split Sunday.
Ryan O'Hearn had an RBI single to score Bobby Witt Jr. in the top of the first for the Royals' only run.
The Royals open a three-game series at the Texas Rangers Tuesday night. First pitch is set for 7:10. Coverage starts at 6:30 on KFEQ Radio (680, 95.3) in St. Joseph.
