The St. Joseph Mustangs fell to the KC Monarchs 6-3 Thursday at Phil Welch Stadium in an out-of-league matchup.
The Mustangs led 2-0 after the first inning, but the Monarchs scored four runs in the fifth to take the lead for good.
The Monarchs were limited to just two hits, but they drew nine walks and benefitted from three Mustang errors.
Easton Bruce led St. Joseph at the plate, going 2-for-5. The Mustangs had six hits, but struck out 13 times and stranded 10 base runners.
The Mustangs fall to 25-13 on the season. St. Joseph stays home Friday to host Chillicothe. First pitch is set for 7 p.m.
