Marjorie Joy Snider, 84 of Plattsburg, MO passed away March 20, 2025 at the home of her son Darel and wife Sheryl Snider while under hospice care. After the passing of her husband, Joy lived at an independent Senior living community for 4 years and made many new friends.

Joy grew up in what is now Riverside, MO. Her grandfather’s family settled there in the 1800’s and it was originally called Brenner Ridge. She had many fond memories growing up there but her favorite of all was her horse Silver that she would still talk about. Joy loved mountains, blue skies, wildlife and flowers. She never met a stranger and enjoyed meeting new people. Joy dreamed of being a cowgirl since childhood. She came close when she and Buster spent several months on a working ranch in Walden, CO in 1995.

A dog stole her heart back in the 1980’s when a Rhodesian Ridgeback dog “showed up and wouldn’t leave”. Rhoady dog adopted them. Rhoady was a huge dog and Joy loved him dearly. She would talk of him in great detail to the very end even when most other memories had failed. After retirement, she and her husband, Buster, traveled the US in their RV and spent winters in Tucson, where they made many lasting friendships. Joy was an amazing seamstress and used her skills to earn money even at a young age. She enjoyed sewing for the many residents at her senior community at no charge. Her real talent was found late in life when she began making jewelry. It was the perfect outlet for her creative mind. Both she and Buster were members of the Plattsburg Artist Coalition for many years.

Joy was preceded in death by her spouse of 63 years, Earl (Buster) Snider and her parents, Louis and Marjorie Brenner…and her beloved dog Rhoady.

Joy will be missed by so many. But especially the family she leaves behind. Her two sons, Jeff Snider of Rangely, CO and Darel Snider and wife Sheryl of Plattsburg, MO. Grandchildren Sarah (AJ) Schumacher of Kansas City, MO, Nathan Snider of Carbondale, CO, Brad Snider of Kansas City, MO, Ethan Snider (Suki) of Denver, CO, Hannah Snider of Lenexa, KS. Her great grandson Tesher Schumacher and her sister, Jill Eisenberg of Coronado, CA.

Visitation: 1:00-3:00 p.m. Sunday, April 6th at Hixson-Klein Funeral Home, Smithville, MO.

Private burial will be held April 7th at East Slope Cemetery in Riverside, MO.
