Summer classes have moved online for some St. Joseph elementary and middle school students due to a rise in COVID-19 cases locally.
Robidoux and Pershing schools will conduct classes virtually through July 1 - when summer school ends. St. Joseph School District assistant superintendent Gabe Edgar says the move is “precautionary.”
Only 20.6 percent of eligible residents in Buchanan County have received the COVID-19 vaccine. That’s below the statewide average of 37 percent. The vaccine is generally available to all people ages 12 and up.
There were 70 new COVID cases and two virus-related deaths reported in Buchanan County between Monday and Thursday of last week.
The positivity rate in Buchanan County is 4.97 percent. Mosaic Life Care is also treating 12 COVID patients - 10 in St. Joseph, one in Maryville and one in Albany.
