Paul “Pootie” Edward Calvert, 73, Rushville, Missouri, passed away Saturday, December 16, 2023, at his home surrounded by his family.
He was born on December 13, 1950, to James J. and Margaret E. (Willming) Calvert in Leavenworth, Kansas.
Pootie spent 42 years as a freight truck driver, and he was awarded the “Two Million Mile” driver award. His career allowed him to fuel his passion for travelling.
On December 18, 1981, he married Carolyn Kay Hughes. They were just two days shy of sharing 42 years of marriage together.
He was a proud member of the United States Army, serving during the Vietnam War. During his time in the service, he earned several awards including the National Defense Service medal, Vietnam Service medal, Vietnam Campaign medal, Combat Infantryman badge, and two Overseas Bars.
Pootie enjoyed hunting and fishing, travelling with his family, and supporting the Raiders. Spending time with his family was important to him, and he loved to take them on special trips.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, James Ray Calvert.
Survivors include his wife, Carolyn Calvert; children, Dawn Turpin (Bill), Mike Behler (Julie), Tammy Delp, and Tracy McQueen (James); son-in-law, James Delp; siblings, Robert Calvert, Rhonda Simpson (Vern), and Peggy Jo Calvert; seven grandchildren and 9 ½ great-grandchildren.
