A 25-year-old Kansas City man has been charged with second degree murder in the shooting death of a 35-year-old St. Joseph man in the back lot of the Speedy's Convenience Store off South Riverside Road in St. Joseph.
St. Joseph police say Curtis Cruse, Jr. was shot dead in the parking lot of the Speedy's located at 1310 Riverside Road. Police arrested Nathan Keegan of Kansas City, Missouri, who has been charged in the shooting.
According to police, Keegan and Cruse got into a disturbance while driving on U.S. 36. It continued as the two drove their cars off the highway onto Riverside and into the convenience store parking lot shortly after four o'clock Friday afternoon. It appears only Keegan fired shots. Both had a single passenger in their vehicles. The passengers were not harmed, according to police.
The investigation continues.
