Mary Helen Stuber, 84, St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Friday, May 17, 2024.

She was born February 23, 1940 in St. Joseph to Waldo and Helen (Nold) Goff.

Mary Helen married Dr. Robert Stuber on February 14, 1988. He preceded her in death on September 9, 2023.

She was an art and photography teacher for many years at several schools, including Benton High School, Spring Garden Middle School, Savannah Junior High School, Avenue City School, and Central High School.

She was deeply involved in the local arts community, donating her time and serving on several boards and councils.

Mary Helen loved the outdoors, whether it was flower gardening, backpacking, hiking, cross-country skiing or canoeing.

Family was very important to Mary Helen. She treasured time at their home at Lake Manitou in Canada. Her main pride and joy was her granddaughter Chantelle, with whom she shared a close bond.

She also enjoyed baking, especially pies, and loved to play Mah Jongg.

Besides living a full, busy life with no bucket-list items undone, Mary Helen was mostly known for her unfailing selflessness. She always put the needs of others first, right up to her last breath.
