One of the worst slumps of the season for the Royals is now over as Kansas City snapped a seven game losing streak and avoided being swept at Kauffman Stadium, defeating the Cleveland Guardians 4-1 on Wednesday.

The Royals did fall behind in the third inning when Jose Ramirez singled and drove in Andrés Giménez for a 1-0 lead.  Kansas City though would rally for four runs in the bottom of the fourth inning.

Back to back singles by Paul DeJong and Robbie Grossman opened up the frame before Michael Massey would hit a ground ball single into center field that allowed DeJong to come home, tying up the game.

Then after outs by Freddy Fermin and Kyle Isbel, newest Royal Tommy Pham would blast his first home run in a Royals uniform to left field and almost into the fountains to give Kansas City the lead.

Seth Lugo earned the win to improve to 15-7 on the season, pitching seven innings and giving up one run on six hits while striking out four.  Kris Bubic gave up one hit and struck out three for his fifth hold before Lucas Erceg closed the door for his ninth save.

Both Pham and DeJong were 2 for 4 on the day with Pham hitting the go ahead home run and driving in three runs.

The Royals are off on Thursday and will be back in action on Friday taking on another team in the AL Central, welcoming the Minnesota Twins to Kauffman Stadium.  First pitch will be at 7:10pm.
