HOLT COUNTY—Law enforcement authorities are investigating a train vs. truck accident that occurred just after 4p.m. Thursday in Holt County.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported a Burlington Northern Santa Fe Train struck a northbound 2000 Kenworth semi driven by Jason D. Smith, 47, Savannah, who was reversing on Unity Road to turn onto Holt 340 and traveled onto the tracks three miles south of Oregon.
The railroad crossbar and warning sign were present at the time of the accident.
Smith refused medical treatment at the scene. He was not wearing a seat belt, according to the MSHP. There were no other injuries reported.
