Even as gas prices begin to drop, later this week the City of St. Joseph and St. Joseph City Transit are inviting residents to "Dump the Pump" offering free rides.
On Thursday, June 18th, known as "Dump the Pump" Day, residents can ride free on all routes, all day, as often as they would like. Riders however will be charged for deviations. The annual awareness event encourages people to utilize public transit, carpooling, biking or walking rather than driving.
The event is sponsored by the American Public Transportation Association and aims to highlight how commuting alternatives can save money on gas and reduce environmental impact. For more information, including a list of routes and schedules, you can visit the cities website.
