Missouri Western golf coach Greg Dillon announced the signing of three student-athletes to his 2021 recruiting class Tuesday.

Brooks Baldwin and Jeffrey Johnston will join the Griffon men's team and Florence Phan has signed with the MWSU women's team.

Johnston won two team state championships at Bishop LeBlond so far and has two top-three finishes at state.

Johnston and the Golden Eagles won the Class 2 title in 2018 and the Class 1 championship in 2019.

Johnston finished third individually at state as a freshman and tied for second his sophomore year. Johnston’s junior season was canceled due to COVID.

He is the son of Matthew and Jane Johnston and says he chose MWSU because, "I feel comfortable with Coach Dillon and feel good about where the golf program is going. MWSU has a good reputation for quality education and it is a good fit for me and my goals."

Jeffery is a very powerful player!" Coach Dillion said. " That is the immediate impact Jeffery will have. He is also an extremely accomplished student, which we place a high priority on.

"Jeffery is also a diverse athlete. Just looking at Jeffery's accomplishments in Junior and High School golf in the state of Missouri is impressive to say the least. Jeffery has led his team his entire career to multiple State Titles and finished consistently in the top 5 his entire high school career! We feel Jeffery can be a great leader for the Griffons his entire career here."

Brooks Baldwin (Warrensburg, MO)

Baldwin has a career high school average of 75.4 and earned All-State honors as a sophomore. He also won an individual conference championship his sophomore year as he shot a 71. His dad, Darin, played golf at the University of Central Missouri for four years. Baldwin is the son of Darin Baldwin and Melissa Stewart.

Florence Phan (Toulouse, France)

Phan competed in numerous amateur tournaments in France over the last couple years and had an average of 77.1.

She had a low round of 65 at the Grand Prix Federal La Ramee on September 26, 2020. Phan also won the Grand Prix d'Albret Trophee Bernard Betuing in 2019. She is the daughter of Chea Hien and Latsany Phan and says she chose MWSU because "The University looks welcoming, especially towards international students."
